Sunday August 2nd 3:00 P.M.

Daddy had a pretty good night last night. His Doctor (Surgeon) is pleased with his progress so far. The Doctor removed the bandages from Dad's chest and said they were not going to put anything back over it. Daddy lost 7 pounds of fluid overnight, which is great. The critical care Doctor is still monitoring him and overseeing his breathing and diabetes. It is a possibility that he may be moved to the step down unit tomorrow, which means we will be doing much of Dad's care. They are also hoping to take out the last drain tomorrow.

The Doctor said that Dad will have the feeding tube for a week or so after he comes home and he plans to put in a different trachea tube that will allow Dad to talk. We have to learn how to feed him through the feeding tube and how to suction the trachea tube because we will have to do it for him once he's home.

All his vitals are stable and there's not much change from yesterday. At least he's not worse, which is good.

Will post an update this evening after we get to talk to the Doctor again.

Thank you for the regular updates. It helps me know how to pray for the family. I wish I was closer and could come by for a visit. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. May God give the doctors and other health care providers wisdom for treatment. May the Lord's strength uphold each one of you and his grace and mercy completely surround you.
